So my last "baby" is leaving for college this month, and I've gone gluten free in the past 30 days, and I realize I've been a pack rat with freezer food. Time to clear out.
A turkey - from last winter. Defrost and invite Auntie Ginger-Roe to dinner. Ginny's a work horse. She'll manage a 19 pound turkey..
A trip to Bed Bath and Beyond to buy a turkey roaster. I sold my Grandmother's huge aluminum roaster last year -- first, it was way to large to store, second, it was aluminum, and third, the glass top was missing....
Okay....19 lb. turkey in the sink in cold water, 2 PM..time to put it in the oven for the 4 hour cooking....
Ginny's a great work horse -- she LOVES to debone turkeys. Her mother (my mother too), always gave her this job from 16 years old on....It was always GINNY's job (not mine), so I'm sure glad Ginny is here!!
For a change there is no big philosophical point to this blog, just a quick update because I read Allison's latest blog on cooking and dog butts, and I realized I needed to just get with the program and give an update with no profound insights...
Unless it's put the people in your life to work with what they are good at...deboning a turkey..

Seems like a large item to just happen accross in your freezer, but nonetheless, if I did, I would definitely invite a "work horse" to dinner. I'm afraid the work horse gene must be recessive because it seems to have missed Ally.
Mother! You are too funny. I am not surprised at all that you had a whole turkey in your freezer. In fact, you probably will have another one to replace that one soon. But, now that Pauliwog is headed to college, you might not go through food very fast. Well, nevermind. Everytime I go visit you there is always a house full of people and a party, so you do have a lot of people to feed I guess!
Thanks for writing a new blog!
We ate ALL of it (but over a period of a couple of weeks).
